October 27th, 2012 found over 50 women gathered at WBC for a one day retreat. On arrival, the women were greeted with a registration packet and a delicious continental breakfast. The retreat theme was “Filled to Overflow”, taken from 1 Thessalonians 3:12. Our worship team, Lisa Unger, Marilyn Nakashima and Julie Butcher opened our sessions with thoughtfully chosen music and lyrics that spoke to God’s love overflowing in our lives. Speaker Grace Fox shared two inspiring talks on Friendship. The first session explored Biblical examples of friendship and identified 6 characteristics of friendship and the second session examined “soul-deep” friendships. Both talks were a reminder that friendship is rooted in experiencing God’s love and friendship is expressed when our lives overflow with God’s love. Each talk was followed by small group discussions and a Question and Answer time with Grace.
We enjoyed a wonderful Lunch and Dinner catered by The Banqueting Table. The day hosted a variety of relaxing, sometimes informative, sometimes entertaining activities. Joan Braun (Winter Door Décor) finished our morning with a Winter/Christmas Planter Presentation. Crafts, hair braiding, nail polishing, board games, conversation, book browsing and free time filled the afternoon. The day was an opportunity to make, build and renew friendships, and to be refreshed and challenged by God’s word.
Those interested in further exploring Biblical truths raised at the retreat are invited to attend a 7 week study, entitled “Moving From Fear to Freedom”, produced by Grace Fox with Stonecroft Ministries. Watch for details—the study is scheduled to begin in the New Year.
