On the 21st May, 2020 WBC participated in partnership with New Westminster Christian Reform Church of Burnaby (NWCRC) in a project called Triple Blessing. It is a wonderful gesture of people who care, doing their bit to show they really care. We choose care homes in the Tricities, ones we know, or recommended by people, and offer a meal to the caregivers of that Institution. The meal is supplied by one of the restaurants we shortlist, as recommended by people; restaurants of good standing who could do with a helping hand during these difficult days.
Our first outing was a blessed one. The care home chosen was the Kiwanis Care Centre in New Westminster, who have a staff strength of 40. The restaurant who supplied the meal was Fusion Wok, also in New Westminster. We were able to gather at Kiwanis at 4.30 pm to hand over the dinner we had arranged for them. They were very grateful for our concern and generosity. Present at our first distribution of the Triple Blessing Meal was myself, Gert and Anna-Marie, Larry Reimer and Brian. Gert offered a prayer to the staff before we dispersed.
We hope to continue to participate as partners every other week. There is a lot that we can do as a community to those in the frontlines. We look forward to your participation in carrying this forward. You could assist in the distribution of the meals, contribute towards the cost of the meals (donate directly to NWCRC), or with suggestions of care homes and restaurants. Each meal is expected to cost approximately $10. We welcome your contributions and we look forward to your active participation.
It blesses the giver. It blesses the given. It blesses the hands that make it.
That is Triple Blessing for us!!
