Since 2010, Westminster Bible Chapel has opened it’s building for use as a shelter to homeless individuals in Burnaby during winter nights when the weather is extremely inclement. The Lookout Society provides oversight for this program as a part of the Extreme Weather Response Strategy for homeless people in Metro Vancouver. When an alert is called because of weather conditions (November through March), the building is used to provide shelter and food for up to 27 individuals. Volunteers from Westminster Bible Chapel and another local church support the Lookout staff in setting up the shelter and providing warm food and a warm place to stay to those who come.
All clients receive a bagged lunch as they leave the premises each morning. The lunch kits are assembled by WBC's youth and young adults groups.
