This is a sermon series that teaches the Letter to the Ephesians. The letter is known as written to the believers in Ephesus, but it is probably rather a circular letter to churches in Asia. It is not an occasional letter like most of Paul's correspondence, but rather a general letter that reveals God's plan and purpose for the world.
Many people have remarked on the rather clear structure of the letter. The first three chapters are mostly in the indicative, while the last three chapters are mostly in the imperative. The first three chapters tells us what God has done in Christ, and the last three chapters tells us what God requires from us in light of what He has done. So, the two parts hang together in the person and work of Christ. This is God's wonderful plan for heaven and earth. It has been hidden in the past, but it has now been revealed to Paul so that it can be proclaimed to all people. In the end, all things in heaven and earth will be united in Christ and give glory to God, The Most High.
